How Swimmers Qualify to Be Ranked

Compete in an Olympic individual event.

Results from relay events are not factored into the ratings.

All-Time Athlete Rankings

The athletes receive a rating that is not posted on the website.

The rating for swimmers is their best finish in an event + a fraction of the average ranking in all of their events.

The number of events that the athlete competed in is also factored into the athlete's rating.

The number of events competed in is a small fraction of the player's rating.

Athletes By Nation

The rating used to rank the athletes is the same as the all-time rankings.

The athletes are listed in the rankings of the nation they were born in and not the nation that they grew up in.

Athletes By State

The rating used to rank the athletes is the same as the all-time rankings.

The athletes are listed in the rankings of the state they were born in and not the state that they grew up in.

Athletes By College

The rating used to rank the athletes is the same as the all-time rankings.

The rankings are based on what the athlete did at the international level and not what they did while competing for that college.

Any athlete who attended more than one college is only listed with the last school that they attended.
