Tennis Player Ranking Explanations

This website uses statistics and results to rank players. It does not use opinion/bias to rank players.

Tournaments That Factor Into Rankings

1. Australian Open (1922-present)

2. French Open (1925-present)

3. Olympics (1992-present)

4. US Open (1922-present)

5. Wimbledon (1922-present)

How Players Qualify to Be Ranked

A player must play in one of the tournaments listed above.

All-Time Player Rankings

The players receive a rating that is not posted on the website.

The rating for tennis players is their best finish in a major tournament + a fraction of the average ranking in top 28 finishes in majors.

The number of tournaments that the player made the cut in is also factored into the player's rating.

The number of tournaments is a small fraction of the player's rating.

Players By Nation

The rating used to rank the players is the same as the all-time rankings.

The players are listed in the rankings of the nation they were born in and not the nation that they grew up in.

Players By State

The rating used to rank the players is the same as the all-time rankings.

The players are listed in the rankings of the state they were born in and not the state that they grew up in.

Players By College

The rating used to rank the players is the same as the all-time rankings.

The Rankings are based on what the athlete did at the pro level and not what they did while playing for that college.

Any athlete who attended more than one college is only listed with the last school that they attended.
